Las Vegas wedding ends in divorce for singer and rapper
More than two years after they were married in a Las Vegas wedding, the divorce of singer Christina Milian and rap star The Dream has been finalized, according to a statement from Milian’s divorce attorney. According to media reports, the couple reached a settlement agreement more than a year ago, which will be honored by the family court in which the divorce filing was made.
Milian and The Dream, whose real name is Terius Nash, were married in Las Vegas in September 2009. Just a few months after their wedding, however, the couple reportedly decided to separate and end their marriage. In February 2010, about a week before Milian was set to give birth to the couple’s daughter, The Dream filed for divorce in Atlanta, Georgia.
The couple did not inform the media that they were planning to divorce until several months later, after The Dream was seen interacting with another woman on the beach. His publicist quickly made a statement, announcing that the rapper was “saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina Milian was unsuccessful.” The statement went on to report that “The couple reached this decision in late 2009, but decided to keep the news private in efforts to protect their baby daughter.”
Earlier this week, the presiding family court judge signed off on the settlement agreement, thereby finalizing the divorce. The details of the agreement are not known. It likely contained clauses regarding child custody and child support of the couple’s daughter, who is now almost two years old. The division of the couple’s finances and other assets was also likely covered in the settlement agreement.
