Demi Moore announces plans to divorce

Earlier this week, actress Demi Moore released a statement announcing her intent to file for divorce from Ashton Kutcher, her husband of six years. The divorce announcement comes after months of media rumors about Kutcher’s alleged infidelity, with one report claiming that he cheated on Moore on the couple’s sixth wedding anniversary. The couple denied that there were any problems between them, but many speculated that they were headed for divorce. In a statement to the Associated Press earlier this week, Moore confirmed that the marriage was over.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton,” she said in her statement, before hinting at the accuracy of the rumors of her husband’s infidelity. “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”

Kutcher later took to his Twitter account to confirm the split. “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi,” he said. “Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail.”

Moore has not yet filed for divorce, but reportedly plans to do so in the near future. It is not known whether the couple signed a prenuptial agreement prior to getting married or how they plan to divide their money and assets.
