Justin Bieber takes paternity test
After being accused of fathering a child during a brief backstage tryst with a fan, pop star Justin Bieber has reportedly taken a paternity test in an effort to establish that he is not the father of the child in question. The results of the test have not yet been reported, but recently released text messages from the child’s mother seem to indicate that the paternity claim against Bieber will soon be history.
A few weeks ago, Las Vegas native Mariah Yeater filed a lawsuit against Bieber, alleging that she had become pregnant during a sexual encounter with Bieber following a concert in October 2010. At the time of the alleged rendezvous, she was 19 and Bieber was 16. Her son was born in July of this year.
Bieber has continually denied the allegations that he was the father of Yeater’s son. He told entertainment reporters that he never met Yeater, and that her story was “completely made up.” This weekend, he agreed to take a DNA test to prove his innocence.
Last week, Yeater dropped her paternity lawsuit against Bieber, but she is reportedly still hoping to achieve a financial settlement with the pop star. A few text messages allegedly sent by Yeater in which she asks the recipient to erase all messages stating that her ex-boyfriend is the father of her son will likely be the nail in the coffin of this case.
Bieber is reportedly considering filing a legal action against Yeater if the paternity test proves that he is not the father of her child. We will continue to update our blog with any new developments.
